Lovers of the green revolution
The growing interest in more environmentally friendly agricultural production and the demand for "natural products" have led to an increase in the number of farmers who are turning to the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants as an alternative to traditional crops.
ALWAYS ALOE VERA
Undoubtedly, the cultivation of aloe vera is the agricultural production that has developed the most in the peninsula due to its multiple beneficial properties and the demand from the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industry as a main raw material or to enrich other types of products.
Four foods are indispensable for human well-being: wheat, grape, olive and aloe.
The first nourishes him, the second lifts his spirits, the third brings harmony and the fourth heals him.
"Christopher Columbus
Alover was born from the personal commitment of two brothers determined to start a farm based on the cultivation of organic aloe vera.
Alejandro's initiative together with Miguel's knowledge in agronomic engineering have driven our project to turn what was initially an idea into a reality. We have not been alone in this business adventure, we have had the support of our families who have always believed in us and the enthusiasm of the rest of our staff.
We have grown up in a mainly agricultural and livestock farming environment, in the vicinity of a natural park, which has allowed us to be in constant contact with nature, learning to respect and care for it. Agriculture, based mainly on the cultivation of olive groves and the production of olive oil, has been the traditional way of life in our village and thanks to the wealth it has generated, other small businesses have been developed which have contributed to the creation of jobs and have allowed the rural population to be maintained.
In our family we have always been closely linked to the land and the idea of growing aloe vera has been a new opportunity to continue with this link, as well as a challenge on a personal level, opting for a crop in which we are pioneers in our autonomous community.
We chose organic production because for us there is no other way to do it, only with respect for nature can we get the best out of the land we have grown up in. We establish a symbiotic relationship with the earth, we take care of it and in return we obtain a pure organic aloe vera gel that contains the highest concentration of natural active ingredients and retains all the benefits of aloe.
We are aloe vera producers because we are convinced of the benefits of aloe vera cultivation.
We feel at home in our village, with our people and we want to contribute with our project to maintain our natural environment and to generate wealth, opening the way for other entrepreneurs so that the number of aloe producers in our autonomous community increases and they can continue to live from their farms.
The development of a business project of any kind is fraught with a great deal of excitement and not a few uncertainties.

In our case the decision to become an aloe vera producer was a simple one. The more we learned about aloe, the more fascinated we became. On our farm, which was too small for other crops, we had the right sandy soil for its cultivation and the dry climate of the area favoured it. It was just a matter of "getting down to work".
When we began to delve deeper into the properties of aloe vera we realised its great potential. Pure aloe vera gel is present as a main ingredient in cosmetic and medical products and food supplements due to its high content of mucilage and minerals and the benefits it provides.
The development of the aloe plant means that harvesting of the leaves can begin as early as three years of age, when the plant is an adult, making it a highly profitable crop even with small hectares of production, as one hectare can yield up to 70,000 kilos of aloe leaf.
At Alover we are part of ASOCIALOEthe national association of aloe entrepreneurs in Spain. The association's basic mission is to disseminate the medicinal properties of aloe and to increase the production of aloe vera, promoting its cultivation on the peninsula.
We believe that there is strength in numbers and through the association we have a forum for aloe vera producers to share experiences and spread the advantages of aloe vera cultivation.
Its low water requirement and its soil-fixing characteristics help to prevent soil erosion in dry climates, favouring the conservation of the environment.
Planting, fertilising, weeding and harvesting are all done by hand, as it is a labour-intensive crop that ultimately generates wealth in the rural environment where it is grown.
